China local time:
Who are we and what services can we provide adoptive families?
We are directors, social workers, clerks, Chinese translators, liaison people, tour guides,
and consultants. We are a family dedicated to matching caring parents with children who need
them. Collectively and officially we are a 501 (c)(3) non-profit agency, licensed by the State
of Washington and subject to the laws of this state. We have the experience, expertise, and
the network to handle all aspects of an international adoption in China.
Our agency was formed by a partnership of bi-lingual native Chinese individuals and American
adoptive parents who recognize the need for adoption of Chinese children and understand the
complexity of the process. The legalities, language problems, and cultural differences can make
adoption almost impossible without the assistance of an agency that is knowledgeable, trustworthy
and caring. We are well informed and in touch with all parties involved in the process.
We help adoptive families prepare their dossiers in an efficient manner, arrange for their travel
to and within China, assign multi-lingual guides for the entire time they are there, and provide
travel and lodging accommodations for every day of the adoptive parents' stay in China. We assist
families with each step of the adoptive process, and provide information on all matters relevant to
their adoption, i.e., assign an agency case worker upon request, update the status of their dossiers
both before and after it has been sent to China, inform clients of changing requirements brought
about by the China Center of Adoption Affairs or by the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service,
provide re-adoption assistance for our families, coordinate social activities, and much more.
Who qualifies?
Married couples between the ages of 30 and 45 qualify for healthy infants from China. By far,
most available children are girls between the ages of 6-18 months. Older children are available
upon request. Parents up to age 50 may adopt, but the likelihood of a child eighteen months or older
increases.
Adoptions for single parents have ended in China as of May 1, 2007.
The China
Center of Adoption Affairs (CCAA) issued new regulations which preclude all single parents from adopting.
There are many children in China institutionalized with minor, correctable special needs. If you
would be willing to adopt a child with special needs you may make this request. Please contact
Faith for further information.
When will you be matched with a baby, and how will you be notified?
After you complete your dossier and it is sent to China, it will be translated and put into order
of receipt along with hundreds of dossiers from other agencies at the China Center of Adoption Affairs (CCAA). The backlog of dossiers at CCAA impacts the amount of time between dossier submittal and match. Recently matches have averaged about 2 years from dossier submittal. Timeframes are continually changing and we do our best to provide updated information regarding timeframes to our families in our China program.
When your dossier comes up in the 'matching room', you will be matched with a child. Our agency
is sent the child's picture and medical report. We notify you immediately! (This is one of the
best moments of our job). If you accept the child, you will begin preparing for your trip which
will occur six to eight weeks after acceptance. One or both parents must travel to China. For more information, please see our China FAQ page
